paus is an online streaming platform that’s dedicated entirely to independent film. The service is uniquely powered by tips, which for the audience means there are no subscriptions, no adverts and no set payments. The audience can choose to tip filmmakers any amount, at any time.
Challenge
paus, the iOS streaming app for independent film, partnered with Magine Pro to leverage our OTT platform and expand its service in a secure and scalable way. Working with us, paus required the freemium VOD service to expand onto web and Android platforms and be accessible to audiences in the UK, US and Europe. The service’s unique tipping feature was also to be maintained and available on all platforms.

Result
Magine Pro worked alongside paus to successfully launch their upgraded freemium VOD service in the UK and Europe on web, iOS and Android devices. The independent film service supports a unique tipping feature that enables audiences to financially reward the filmmakers. For subscribers, it means there are no set payments or ads and up to 80% of tips go directly to the filmmakers involved. During the build process, Magine Pro facilitated this feature using specially designed widgets that enable users to seamlessly access a dedicated payment page.
The paus service can also now be curated using Magine Pro’s CMS Console, enabling paus to enhance content discovery by creating custom categories and highlighting select content on the service start page. The Console also gives them the ability to independently upload new VOD content and manage their users and service.
paus is now available to independent film fans across Europe and the US on all mobile devices.
